Senior Building Inspector (Fire Safety)

Location: Home-based position for a candidate located close to an airport in the Nashville, Tennessee area; travel of up to 50% is required for building inspections and client meetings.

Salary: $85,000–$105,000 per year, plus eligibility for a 10% annual bonus target.

What you will do

• Inspect commercial, industrial, residential, and hospitality buildings for fire and life safety compliance.
• Evaluate fire suppression, fire detection, and alarm systems against applicable building codes and regulations.
• Read and interpret building codes, technical manuals, drawings, instructions, and specifications.
• Identify, document, and report deviations using the required tools, then verify that corrective actions have been completed.
• Meet with building owners and facility managers, explain inspection procedures and code requirements, and respond to questions or complaints.
• Maintain current knowledge of codes, regulations, standards, materials, and professional practices while completing inspections and reports efficiently.

Requirements

• Approximately five years of experience as an inspector, building contractor, engineer, or building-related trades professional.
• Associate degree or equivalent university education in mechanical, electrical, or fire safety engineering is preferred.
• ICC Combo Commercial Inspector certification.
• Ability to interpret building codes and identify non-compliant installations.
• Strong verbal communication and computer skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50% and be located close to an airport in the Nashville, Tennessee area.
