Vue-first Fullstack (Vue)

Location: Remote in the United States; Chicago, Illinois

Salary: $50–75/hour, depending on relevant experience

What you will do

• Build and maintain end-to-end features across a TypeScript/Node.js backend and Vue frontend.
• Design and update PostgreSQL and MongoDB data models for well-scoped features.
• Develop and deploy services using AWS Lambda, S3, Aurora, DynamoDB, and IAM.
• Help build a plugin-based civic assembly platform for Democracy Leagues.
• Write tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
• Communicate progress, blockers, and technical questions proactively with engineering, product, and program stakeholders.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js, plus experience with Django and Python.
• Experience with Vue.js or React, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, including sensible schema design without relying on AI tools.
• Experience with AWS services including Lambda, S3, Aurora, DynamoDB, and IAM.
• Clear communication skills and comfort working asynchronously on a distributed team.
• Initiative, reliability, and commitment to code quality; a relevant degree, certifications, bootcamp credentials, or equivalent experience is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with NestJS.
• Familiarity with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience in nonprofit, civic technology, or education technology.

Culture & Benefits

• Contract engagement for approximately 6–12 months.
