Senior AI Software Engineer

Location: Remote in Karlsruhe, Berlin, or Munich, Germany; occasional in-person workshops and team events in Karlsruhe. Up to 15 days of workation within the EU per calendar year.

What you will do

• Build and ship AI-powered, full-stack products from concept through production.
• Develop scalable backend services with Python and FastAPI.
• Design, deploy, and operate production systems on AWS.
• Make architecture and technical decisions, contribute to code reviews, and own features end to end.
• Build practical GenAI solutions and evaluate when LLMs provide value compared with ML models or heuristics.
• Own the reliability, observability, and performance of delivered systems while using AI coding tools to improve development workflows.

Requirements

• Senior-level software engineering experience with a strong record of shipping production software.
• Strong Python skills and practical experience with GenAI and AI-assisted development.
• Hands-on AWS or comparable cloud experience, including cloud architecture and production systems.
• Experience with FastAPI and end-to-end ownership from architecture and coding through deployment and production.
• Experience in a startup, scale-up, or similarly fast-moving environment.
• Strong communication skills, pragmatic engineering judgment, and the ability to make independent technical decisions.

Nice to have

• Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code experience.
• TypeScript, Angular, or React experience.
• Experience with microservices and data pipelines.
• Experience with finance, markets, trading, or investment products.
