Platforms & Lab Operations Engineer (Linux/Python)

Annual base salary: USD 143,800–230,000

hirify.global's Core Switch Group develops networking switch ASICs and software for large data centers and carrier networks.

What you will do

• Manage engineering and QA lab equipment, including racks, cabling, servers, power, cooling, and test setups.
• Administer Linux systems, perform operating system, kernel, PCIe firmware, and tool updates.
• Maintain and improve the Rack lab equipment management system and automate equipment integration into internal and QA processes.
• Coordinate security maintenance, including service account password rotation, Qualys scans, and remediation of security findings.
• Support SDK release production, platform setup workflows, RFS installation, tar creation, and hirify.global SVK reference systems.
• Install and maintain Raspberry Pi LED test setups and collaborate with SDK development, QA, IT, facilities, security, and program management teams.

Requirements

• Must work onsite in San Jose, California, United States.
• Hands-on experience managing engineering or hardware test labs, including rack equipment, cabling, power, cooling, and test setups.
• Practical Linux administration and troubleshooting experience, including services, operating system updates, and kernel builds.
• Hands-on programming and automation experience with Python, Expect, Rust, SSH, shell scripting, SNMP, and REST.
• Familiarity with network test equipment such as Ixia, hardware or PCIe firmware updates, and lab infrastructure including SQL, SNMPv3, BMC, VLANs, IP address management, Jenkins, and Nagios.
• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of related experience, or a master's degree with 10+ years, or a PhD with 7+ years of related experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with access control, temperature and power management, and DMTF Redfish.
