TL;DR
AL/ML Engineer (AI/ML): Delivering scalable, governed, production-ready AI/ML infrastructure and reusable patterns for predictive modeling, NLP, and generative AI on an enterprise cloud data platform with an accent on trustworthy AI, observability, and operational integration. Focus on building feature pipelines, model monitoring, guardrails, human-in-the-loop workflows, and cost-efficient training and serving for federal health use cases.
Location: Fully remote, but must reside and perform all work within the continental United States. Production support coverage runs from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with participation in a 24/7 on-call escalation process.

What you will do
- Deliver scalable AI/ML infrastructure and tooling aligned with architecture, source control, CI/CD, and tagging standards.
- Build reusable patterns and templates for predictive modeling, feature pipelines, training, validation, model registries, NLP, text analytics, and generative AI.
- Integrate AI outputs into clinical decision support, risk prediction, and operational analytics using standard interfaces and reliability SLAs.
- Implement observability across ML pipelines, including data lineage, experiment tracking, model quality, drift, bias monitoring, and alerting.
- Operate privacy, safety, fairness, transparency, risk assessment, and audit controls for trustworthy AI.
- Optimize cloud training and serving costs and performance while supporting onboarding, upgrades, pilots, playbooks, and cross-workstream coordination.
Requirements
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust Tier 2 / Moderate Risk background investigation.
- Must reside and perform all work within the continental United States.
- Experience launching, scaling, and supporting cutting-edge AI/ML tooling.
- Expertise in the technical disciplines related to AI/ML enablement, infrastructure, tooling, and production operations.
- Participation in Eastern Time production coverage and a 24/7 urgent-issue on-call escalation process is required.
Nice to have
- Experience launching, scaling, and supporting AI/ML tooling in an Azure environment.
- Direct experience deploying AI/ML or data science solutions at a federal agency.
