Senior Cloud Operations Engineer (AWS)

Location: United Kingdom. hirify.global-FLEX hybrid model with two days working from the office and three days remotely each week.

What you will do

• Design, implement, operate, and optimize scalable, secure, and highly available AWS infrastructure using EC2, EKS, ECS, RDS, S3, VPC, Lambda, IAM, and related services.
• Manage production container platforms on Amazon EKS and ECS, including cluster operations, networking, scaling, and troubleshooting.
• Administer and harden Linux production systems, handling performance tuning, storage, networking, and incident resolution.
• Maintain relational and NoSQL databases, ensuring performance, high availability, backups, replication, and disaster recovery readiness.
• Improve cloud security, monitoring, logging, alerting, performance analytics, and operational processes.
• Lead production incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, cost optimization, and collaboration with software engineering, DevOps, and platform teams.

Requirements

• 4–5 years of experience in cloud operations, infrastructure engineering, or SRE roles.
• Deep hands-on experience with AWS services, networking, IAM, EKS, ECS, Docker, and container security.
• Strong Linux administration and Bash or Python scripting skills, including production server hardening.
• Proficiency with Terraform and hands-on experience with Puppet configuration management.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, Redis, or MongoDB, plus CI/CD and observability tooling.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or engineering preferred, or equivalent experience; strong communication and collaboration skills required.
