Head of Release - Cambridge (Payments)

What you will do

• Lead a team of Release Managers responsible for production changes to high-volume payment gateways.
• Define and execute release management strategy across payment gateways, cloud platforms, and supporting services.
• Manage the full release lifecycle, including planning, readiness, approvals, deployment, monitoring, validation, audit evidence, and continuous improvement.
• Own release governance while balancing delivery throughput, operational resilience, regulatory obligations, and customer experience.
• Coordinate engineering, platform, product, service management, security, risk, audit, compliance, and supplier stakeholders.
• Champion CI/CD, deployment automation, infrastructure as code, observability, and repeatable production release practices.

Requirements

• At least nine years of relevant experience in release management, software delivery, technology operations, or platform delivery.
• At least seven years of management or supervisory experience.
• Experience leading releases for business-critical, high-availability payment processing services.
• Experience with cloud-hosted and hybrid platforms, including AWS, Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, EC2, Helm, Jenkins, Terraform, or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of release, deployment, change, ITIL, service management, and operational governance practices.
• Experience with regulated technology environments, including PCI, audit, security, risk, and evidence requirements.
