Staff Real Time Software Engineer (Radar)

Location: Farmingdale, New York, United States; onsite role supporting the Radar team. US citizenship is required for eligibility for a US Department of Defense Secret Clearance.

Salary: $149,978–$263,755 annually, plus a possible annual or quarterly bonus and shift premium for eligible alternative shifts.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded software using modern C++, embedded Linux, and RTOS for safety-critical applications.
• Define software architectures, detailed designs, component interfaces, software requirements, and architectural tradeoffs.
• Develop verification plans, test procedures, test environments, and documentation to demonstrate compliance with system requirements.
• Analyze system data, timing, bus bandwidth, and hardware resource utilization.
• Support hardware/software integration, design verification, acceptance testing, and formal customer-witnessed testing.
• Present technical information at preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline, plus 15+ years of related experience.
• Extensive experience with modern C++ and real-time operating systems.
• Experience with real-time embedded systems, object-oriented design, software architecture patterns, and the full software development life cycle.
• Familiarity with hardware/software co-design, including drivers, interrupts, DMA, and memory/cache strategies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• US citizenship and a background eligible for a US Department of Defense Secret Clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, Git Bash, Jira, and Artifactory.
• Experience with active electronically scanned arrays (AESA).
