User Validation Engineer (Consumer Electronics)

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands; hybrid working model with regular office access and remote-friendly work.

What you will do

• Review early hardware and software concepts with Product Managers to identify usability risks, define experience KPIs, and establish acceptance criteria for development gates.
• Design prototype, dogfooding, alpha, beta, regression, and usability test plans for software updates and hardware stages including EVT, DVT, and PVT.
• Manage end-to-end beta programs, including tester recruitment, cohort segmentation, engagement, device distribution, software deployment, security protocols, and NDA compliance.
• Administer feedback, crash-reporting, and telemetry tools, then combine qualitative feedback and quantitative data into actionable reports and Jira insights.
• Convert post-launch market insights, customer support trends, and field reports into usability investigations and product improvements with Product Management and QA.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of experience in user validation, QA, UX research, or technical program management for consumer electronics hardware and software.
• Experience running internal alpha tests and large external beta or field trials, including dedicated user-testing platforms.
• Formal training in statistics, human-computer interaction, industrial design engineering, psychology, or a related field.
• Advanced Jira experience and practical proficiency with research tools such as UserTesting or Maze.
• Experience validating connected devices involving hardware, wireless connectivity, and mobile applications, with strong knowledge of consumer electronics stage-gate processes and firmware deployment.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to have

• ISTQB Foundation and Usability Testing CT-UT certification.
• Experience working directly with Asia-based design and manufacturing partners.
