Lead Electrical Engineer (DAC)

Location: Opfikon, Zurich, Switzerland; hybrid setup with onsite work required at least three days per week. Up to four weeks of remote work annually is available within any EU country. Travel may reach 40%, including extended site presence during design, construction, commissioning, and startup.

What you will do

• Define and maintain the technical direction for the Electrical Department and develop EIC specifications, design philosophies, and bases of design.
• Review contractor submissions for electrical systems and power distribution while ensuring quality, safety, schedule, operability, and code compliance.
• Lead reliability and performance improvements, troubleshoot electrical systems, and evaluate energy-efficiency technologies.
• Coordinate electrical design with process, instrumentation and controls, mechanical, and project management teams.
• Supervise and coach junior engineers, maintain technical records, and drive lessons-learned and continuous-improvement activities.
• Adapt electrical design and execution planning to extreme heat, freezing conditions, winterization, heat tracing, cold starts, and construction constraints.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, with at least 10 years of electrical engineering experience in process plants across different climates.
• Experience leading teams and delivering at least one full-cycle project from FEED and detailed design through construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Experience in mining, water treatment, oil and gas, or a comparable industrial sector, including low- and medium-voltage systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Hands-on experience with cold-weather industrial plants, including operational, maintenance, safety, winterization, and productivity challenges.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with contractors, vendors, and diverse stakeholders.
• Fluent English and willingness to travel up to 40% are required.
