Backend & Applied AI Engineer (Python/AI): Developing and maintaining backend services and APIs for a clinical data platform with an accent on performance, scalability, and production reliability. Location: Remote from France; team mainly based in Paris.

French healthcare technology company developing remote medical monitoring and clinical research solutions based on patient-reported outcomes, AI, and real-world data.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain Python backend services and APIs for a product that structures real-world clinical data.
- Deliver product changes end to end with backend, frontend, product, and Applied AI colleagues.
- Measure and improve processing time, scalability, concurrency, parallelism, and backend architecture.
- Strengthen testing, CI/CD, observability, incident detection, and production reliability.
- Review code and integrate AI-enabled features, including model or LLM APIs, into the product.
Requirements
- Up to two years of professional experience or significant project experience in Python backend development.
- Experience developing and deploying at least one service or API and using a database in a real application.
- Practical experience with Docker, Git, and continuous-integration workflows.
- Understanding of latency, throughput, concurrency, parallelism, and resource-consumption challenges.
- French and English at a minimum B2 level in each language.
- Ability to work remotely from France.
Nice to have
- Experience with processing-intensive systems, NLP or LLM pipelines, healthcare data, or production SaaS products.
