Senior Software Engineer (Scala)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; hybrid working with two days per week in the Dublin office

What you will do

• Design and build scalable backend services and APIs.
• Translate complex business requirements into practical software solutions.
• Work with cloud infrastructure and event-driven microservices.
• Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to code reviews.
• Own service performance in production and improve reliability and scalability.
• Collaborate with the engineering team throughout the full development lifecycle.

Requirements

• At least five years of software engineering experience, including scalable application development.
• Strong backend development skills in Java, Scala, or another JVM language.
• Experience taking software from initial design through production.
• Familiarity with functional programming and interest in developing Scala expertise.
• Experience with cloud technologies, ideally AWS.
• Strong testing, continuous integration, deployment, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Scala and Play Framework.
• Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker, and production monitoring tools.
• Experience building event-driven or distributed systems.
