Senior Cyber Security Engineer (Identity and Device Management, Networking Security)

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania or Palo Alto, California. Permanent authorization to work in the United States is required.

Base salary in California: $160,000–$240,000 USD annually, plus eligibility for annual bonuses, equity compensation, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and improve identity and device management solutions using Entra, Okta, Intune, and related MDM platforms.
• Architect and implement network security controls for DMZs, NAC/NAP, lateral isolation, firewalls, and multi-site data movement.
• Secure HPC, virtualization, cloud, data center, and network environments through hands-on deployments, hardening, monitoring, and vulnerability management.
• Develop automation, orchestration, scripts, dashboards, playbooks, and runbooks for security operations and infrastructure support.
• Assess architectures and deployments, conduct threat and risk assessments, create proofs of concept, and recommend security improvements.
• Collaborate with Cloud Platform, IT, Product, software, hardware, network, and fleet operations teams while mentoring engineering staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 2+ years.
• Strong preference for 8+ years of related experience, or 6 years with a master’s degree, in identity and device management or network security architecture and engineering.
• Experience with vulnerability management, Linux administration, Lustre, Kerberos, and patching and hardening Linux, macOS, Windows systems, images, and containers.
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, Go, or Java, plus hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience with tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Experience with network protocols, firewall management, scalable cloud-native and virtualized security services, Zero Trust Architecture, and security standards including ISO 27001 and NIST 800-53.
• Strong communication, technical diagramming, organizational, independent-working, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

• Experience with Jenkins.
• Exposure to data governance, secure data movement, and storage lifecycle management.
