Forward Deployed Security Automation Engineer (AI/Cybersecurity)

Location: San Jose, CA or Overland Park, KS; 4 days onsite Monday through Thursday

What you will do

• Deploy, configure, and maintain SIEM, SOAR, and EDR environments across vendors including CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender, Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, and Google SecOps.
• Troubleshoot EDR agent issues, performance impacts, kernel and driver conflicts, upgrades, and false positives.
• Build, test, and deploy production Python services, APIs, workers, queues, tests, CI pipelines, and containers.
• Develop automated containment and remediation workflows for host isolation, process termination, file quarantine, account disabling, and ticket creation.
• Own platform reliability and latency outcomes, participate in on-call rotation, and build observable internal tooling with logging, metrics, and alerting.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on experience operating multiple SIEM, SOAR, and EDR platforms.
• Production software engineering experience with Python services and APIs.
• Experience integrating complex vendor APIs, including authentication, rate limits, and retries.
• Experience building automated detection and response workflows with carefully designed safety guardrails.
• Track record of end-to-end production ownership of a platform.
• Ability to work onsite four days per week in San Jose, California, or Overland Park, Kansas.

Nice to have

• Experience managing multi-tenant EDR structures.
• Proficiency in Go.
• Detection-as-code experience with version-controlled rules, testing, and CI deployment.
• Background in MDR/MSSP providers, SOAR vendors, EDR engineering, or mature detection and response teams.
• Computer Science, Engineering, or related degree; relevant cloud, Kubernetes, or security certifications.
