Staff Security Architect (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with presence in the Bellevue, San Francisco, or San Jose office 4 days per week; Tuesday is the designated work-from-home day.

Salary: $314,000–$419,000 annually in Bellevue; $349,000–$465,000 annually in San Francisco or San Jose.

What you will do

• Define end-to-end data protection architecture covering classification, encryption, KMS/HSM, DLP, privacy controls, and AI model weights.
• Secure data lifecycles for training datasets, checkpoints, and model artifacts across cloud and on-premises storage.
• Design confidential computing, envelope encryption, zero-trust access, and fine-grained authorization controls.
• Harden multi-tenant GPU infrastructure, bare-metal clusters, hypervisors, Kubernetes platforms, and control planes.
• Develop security prototypes and reference implementations in Python or Go, including AI-assisted threat modeling, policy validation, and data discovery.
• Partner with engineering, product, infrastructure, legal, and HR leaders while mentoring senior engineers and authoring security architecture documentation.

Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering experience, including 5+ years in security architecture, platform security, or data protection at cloud or infrastructure scale.
• Deep knowledge of encryption, cryptographic protocols, KMS/HSM, DLP, and confidential computing.
• Experience designing multi-tenant security architectures across GPU clusters, bare-metal infrastructure, hypervisors, KVM, Kubernetes, and public cloud.
• Strong prototyping skills in Python, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience with STRIDE, PASTA, threat modeling, security design reviews, and high-consequence systems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including collaboration with IT, Legal, and HR.

Nice to have

• Experience building enterprise security or IAM programs at high-growth technology companies or cloud providers.
• Familiarity with SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or related compliance frameworks.
• Experience implementing Terraform for enterprise identity and SaaS configuration management.
• Experience with security tooling build-versus-buy decisions and compliance audit preparation.
• Experience using LLMs for access reviews, SaaS risk assessments, policy generation, or other security automation.
