AI Engineer-Founding Team Member (AI/ML): Building scalable AI systems and production-grade enterprise workflows for industrial field engineering operations with an accent on LLMs, multimodal models, RAG, AI agents, and MLOps. Focus on defining the AI roadmap, designing data and model infrastructure, translating research into deployed products, and leading technical teams through complex AI delivery challenges.
Location: Hybrid, based in Southern California

What you will do
- Define and lead the AI roadmap from foundational research through applied product development.
- Design scalable AI/ML infrastructure, including data pipelines, model training frameworks, evaluation systems, and lifecycle tooling.
- Integrate LLMs, multimodal models, RAG systems, diffusion models, and AI agents into enterprise workflows.
- Build internal tools and APIs that accelerate AI experimentation and production deployment.
- Partner with engineering, product, and customers to translate domain challenges into production-grade AI solutions.
- Represent the company through conferences, publications, and strategic partnerships while championing responsible AI use.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in AI/ML research, development, and deployment.
- Deep expertise in LLMs, multimodal systems, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI agents.
- Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineering or research talent.
- Track record of building AI systems from concept to production in fast-paced environments.
- Strong command of MLOps and LLMOps, including CI/CD, monitoring, evaluation, and lifecycle management.
Nice to have
- Experience in industrial automation, robotics, or enterprise SaaS.
- Open-source AI contributions or published research.
- Familiarity with vector databases, multimodal embeddings, and frameworks such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Ray, or Hugging Face.
- Experience with AI compliance, safety, or model governance frameworks.
