Staff Services Engineer (Rust)

Location: United States, Remote

Base pay: $190,000–$285,000 USD per year for candidates based in Seattle; pay varies by geographic location.

hirify.global is developing a new PlayStation game franchise focused on comedic, lighthearted characters and communities that connect players.

What you will do

• Build and maintain production-quality backend game services.
• Design core game services for sessions, matchmaking, and player progression in collaboration with a cross-disciplinary team.
• Gather requirements and take services from prototype through implementation, scaling, and production.
• Write clear technical documentation and email communication to align multiple teams.
• Diagnose and respond to production incidents, including participation in an on-call rotation after launch.

Requirements

• Production experience designing and building backend game services.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to diagnose complex system failures using logging and metrics.
• Ability to write, debug, and maintain Rust code.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with a team-oriented approach.

Nice to have

• Experience with games-as-a-service online game development.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or guiding engineers.
• Ability to write, debug, and maintain C++ code.
• Working knowledge of Docker, Git, and Linux, including shell scripting and system configuration.
