Staff Software Engineer, Compute Platform (Rust)

Location: Hybrid or remote within the United States, with preferred locations in San Francisco or Denver. Core business hours require strong availability during Western and Mountain time zones; participation in the on-call rotation and role-related travel may be required.

Salary: $211,370–$253,644 per year, with possible equity and discretionary bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Build and scale the hosting infrastructure for hirify.global Compute, a secure serverless platform running on a global edge network.
• Write platform-level Rust code handling back pressure, resource limits, and interactions with other services.
• Analyze and resolve performance and stability issues in highly scalable production systems.
• Design high-quality APIs for customers and collaborate across technical and product teams.
• Lead projects technically, communicate progress to stakeholders, and contribute to code reviews and codebase improvements.
• Contribute to open-source projects such as Wasmtime.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of software development experience, including at least 3 years in high-reliability systems programming.
• Strong experience with or an interest in Rust, asynchronous programming, and concurrent code.
• Ability to work during core business hours aligned with Western and Mountain time zones.
• Ability to work in the United States in a hybrid or remote arrangement.
• Willingness to participate in the team on-call rotation and travel as required.

Nice to have

• Understanding of security concerns in multi-tenant systems.
• Experience with multiprocess scheduling, memory management, and systems-level optimization.
• Technical writing experience and a history of open-source contributions.
