Network Connectivity Planner (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with presence in the San Francisco or Bellevue office four days per week; work from home on Tuesdays

Annual salary: San Francisco $218,000–$290,000; Bellevue $196,000–$261,000

What you will do

• Design physical and optical connectivity for data centers, points of presence, backbone routes, and customer interconnects.
• Translate customer and network requirements into route designs, capacity plans, equipment needs, and acceptance criteria.
• Compare dark fiber, wavelength, internet transit, and interconnection options based on latency, resilience, total cost, delivery time, and expansion capacity.
• Validate route diversity and identify shared conduits, building entrances, fiber extensions, and other infrastructure dependencies.
• Work with carrier engineers, colocation providers, equipment partners, Supply Chain, Site Selection, and Delivery teams to resolve constraints and develop supplier proposals.
• Prepare designs for Network Engineering approval and support delivery, revisions, acceptance, and the creation of reusable network standards.

Requirements

• Experience designing or developing carrier, cloud, or data center connectivity from requirements through delivery.
• Practical knowledge of dark fiber, wavelength services, optical transport, and internet interconnection.
• Ability to assess physical route diversity, equipment dependencies, and capacity requirements beyond route-map analysis.
• Experience working directly with carrier engineers, colocation providers, or equipment suppliers to solve design constraints.
• Ability to compare supplier options by technical fit, delivery risk, and total cost, and clearly document recommendations.
• Ability to create design documentation usable by engineering reviewers and delivery teams.

Nice to have

• Experience designing long-haul optical networks or dense wavelength division multiplexing systems.
• Experience with private cloud connectivity, internet exchanges, or large compute deployments.
• Carrier solutions engineering experience or familiarity with route-mapping and capacity-planning tools.
