Network Engineer (Python/Perl)

Location: Sunnyvale, California, United States; onsite role with a hybrid office schedule

Salary: USD 172,000–349,000 annual base salary

What you will do

• Design, develop, implement, and report on end-to-end testing for customer networks.
• Develop test strategies from software functional specifications and support product certification.
• Build automated scripts and execute functional, scale, and performance test scenarios.
• Validate networking product functionality across routing, switching, security, virtualization, and SDN technologies.
• Analyze software defects, reproduce customer issues, and provide root-cause corrective actions.
• Collaborate with product development, architecture, cross-functional, and senior leadership teams to translate customer priorities into project deliverables.

Requirements

• 10+ years of networking experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field.
• Strong knowledge of IP/MPLS routing, TCP/IP, Ethernet, OSPF, IS-IS, L2VPN, L3VPN, GRE, IPSec, NAT, HTTP, NETCONF, BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, multicast, VPLS, and related technologies.
• Proficiency in Python, Perl, UNIX, automation frameworks such as Robot Framework, network virtualization, containerization, and SDN.
• Knowledge of Layer 2 technologies, spanning tree, LAG, MC-LAG, virtual chassis, CLOS architecture, and high-availability design.
• Experience with Spirent and Ixia network test equipment, including automation, plus strong communication and problem-solving skills.
