Fuels IC&E Engineer (Nuclear)

Location: Onsite in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. Some travel may be required, up to 5%.

What you will do

• Design and implement instrumentation, controls, electrical, and process automation systems for prototype and production TRISO fuel fabrication equipment.
• Select and specify instrumentation, PLCs, VFDs, motors, controllers, I/O components, and related electrical interfaces.
• Develop and review engineering requirements, equipment lists, data sheets, P&IDs, control narratives, Cause-and-Effect diagrams, and technical reports.
• Coordinate IC&E integration with process, mechanical, CAD, operations, vendors, and suppliers.
• Support fabrication, installation, integration, commissioning, functional testing, calibration, startup, and troubleshooting.
• Analyze operational data and participate in HAZOP, What-If, safety, reliability, and process improvement activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 4 years of relevant experience in instrumentation, controls, electrical, process automation, or related engineering work in a process environment.
• Experience implementing instrumentation and control solutions for industrial or process equipment.
• Experience reading and interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, equipment lists, instrumentation data sheets, control narratives, and Cause-and-Effect diagrams.
• Experience supporting installation, integration, testing, commissioning, or startup of automation or process equipment.
• Experience working with hazardous processes or chemicals and applying appropriate engineering and safety controls.

Nice to have

• Rockwell or Allen-Bradley platforms, including Studio 5000, CompactLogix, ControlLogix, Add-On Instructions, and version management.
• Ignition or another modern SCADA platform; EtherNet/IP remote I/O and IO-Link architectures.
• Experience in nuclear, radiological, or regulated manufacturing environments with documentation and traceability requirements.
• Experience with modular skids, field integration, powder handling, thermal processing, coating, compaction, solvent recovery, TRISO fuel, ceramics, graphite, or high-temperature systems.
• Python or VBA automation, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, process hazard analysis, or functional safety experience.
