TL;DR
Electrical Infrastructure Engineer (AI): Designing and delivering electrical systems for chip, rack, laboratory, and data center environments with an accent on power distribution, capacity planning, commissioning, and safe operations. Focus on developing electrical standards, coordinating consultants and contractors, troubleshooting complex systems, and bringing infrastructure projects from planning through operational handoff.

Location: San Jose, United States; fully in-person at the San Jose (Santana Row) office. Travel to project sites, including the wider Bay Area and beyond, and occasional work outside normal business hours may be required.

Company

hirify.global develops hardware, software, racks, and manufacturing infrastructure for high-throughput, low-latency AI inference.

What you will do

  • Translate product and stakeholder requirements into electrical load forecasts, capacity plans, design criteria, and distribution concepts for benches, labs, rack testing, and data centers.
  • Assess prospective sites, identify infrastructure constraints, and develop single-line diagrams, load calculations, equipment requirements, and preliminary layouts.
  • Review consultant designs, equipment submittals, field installations, and power-system studies covering short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, and power quality.
  • Own electrical projects from scope definition and equipment selection through procurement, construction coordination, commissioning, and operational handoff.
  • Define commissioning plans, coordinate energization and load testing, troubleshoot failures, lead root-cause investigations, and close performance deficiencies.
  • Build electrical standards, design tools, maintenance strategies, operating procedures, and handoff documentation while mentoring teammates and coordinating across disciplines.

Requirements

  • Strong applied knowledge of power distribution, three-phase loads, grounding and bonding, protection, power quality, and electrical failure modes.
  • Typically 5+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated ownership across design, construction, commissioning, troubleshooting, or operations.
  • Ability to develop or critically review electrical designs, interpret drawings and specifications, quantify system constraints, and reconcile documentation with field conditions.
  • Practical knowledge of applicable electrical and building codes and safe electrical work practices, including judgment about when to involve licensed engineers or qualified specialists.
  • Relevant preparation through an electrical engineering degree, apprenticeship, trade progression, military technical training, field service, commissioning, or equivalent practical experience; a degree is not required.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, changing priorities, multiple projects, field work, and occasional planned shutdowns or commissioning outside normal business hours.

Nice to have

  • Experience with mission-critical or high-power facilities, medium-voltage systems, redundancy strategies, utility coordination, brownfield upgrades, or live-site cutovers.
  • Experience with protective relays, equipment startup, load-bank testing, integrated systems commissioning, or relevant trade, testing, commissioning, or professional engineering credentials.
  • Experience with power-system analysis, CAD/BIM, automation, EPMS, BAS, Tridium/Niagara, or ALC.
  • Experience implementing electrical safety programs, NFPA 70E training, reliability improvements, capacity planning, or technical vendor and project leadership.

Culture & Benefits

  • Fully in-person engineering team based in San Jose, with cross-disciplinary collaboration between engineering and research.
  • Medical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage.
  • $500 monthly credit for waiving medical benefits.
  • $2,500 monthly housing subsidy for employees living within walking distance of the office.
  • Relocation support for moves to San Jose, wellness benefits, daily lunch and dinner, and an unlimited compute budget subject to ROI justification.
