Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL)

What you will do

• Administer on-premises and cloud database infrastructure and maintain availability, recoverability, performance, and scalability targets.
• Design and operate database subsystems, including clustering, replication, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
• Establish monitoring, capacity planning, operational metrics, and proactive risk identification practices.
• Investigate production incidents, coordinate resolution, perform root cause analysis, and drive remediation.
• Support Developers, Quality Assurance, and Support teams with database-related requests and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Optimize cloud database costs, analyze performance, oversee data migrations, and drive database technology improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience in production mission-critical systems.
• Experience designing and operating high-availability PostgreSQL architectures with Patroni, Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Strong knowledge of backup and recovery, including Point-in-Time Recovery with pgBackRest and Barman.
• Expertise in PostgreSQL internals, performance monitoring, SQL workload analysis, database tuning, and partitioning with native partitioning and TimescaleDB.
• Experience automating database deployment and operations with Ansible, plus strong Linux administration and systems analysis skills.
• Familiarity with Zabbix and exposure to ClickHouse are required or beneficial for database monitoring and column-oriented workloads.
