Senior Environmental Test Technician (R6211)

What you will do

• Operate and improve an environmental test laboratory with HALT/HASS chambers, thermal-humidity chambers, vibration and shock equipment, and data acquisition systems.
• Prepare and execute reliability tests including thermal cycling, temperature-humidity soaks, HALT, HASS, vibration, and shock testing.
• Define test plans, stress profiles, fixtures, instrumentation, procedures, and data acquisition approaches with design and reliability stakeholders.
• Design and model test fixtures in CAD and instrument hardware with thermocouples, accelerometers, strain gauges, and humidity sensors.
• Manage multiple test campaigns, equipment scheduling, consumables, laboratory maintenance, safety, and external laboratory activities.
• Monitor tests, investigate failures, analyze data, and produce reports with plots and visualizations for qualification and disposition decisions.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of environmental testing experience, including temperature cycling, vibration, HALT, and HASS.
• Knowledge of data acquisition equipment and instrumentation, including thermocouples, accelerometers, humidity sensors, and strain gauges.
• Familiarity with electronics, PCBs, PCBAs, electronic components, moving mechanical assemblies, and electronics failure mechanisms.
• Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams on product design from concept through production and managing technical projects.
• Knowledge of IPC, JEDEC, MIL, and ASTM test standards, with strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Seattle, Washington.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of reliability testing experience and familiarity with Weibull statistics and accelerated life test design.
• Proficiency with ANSYS SpaceClaim, NX, or SolidWorks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Reliability Engineering.
• Prior experience managing an environmental test laboratory.
• Python proficiency with NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Plotly, and Matplotlib.
