Associate, Environmental Planning

Location: New York City, New York, United States; hybrid

Base compensation: $117,600–$176,400 annually.

What you will do

• Manage complex multidisciplinary Environmental Assessment Statements, Environmental Impact Statements, and coordinated NEPA, SEQRA, and CEQR reviews.
• Lead project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing, subconsultants, client coordination, and quality control.
• Apply the CEQR Technical Manual, review technical analyses, and resolve complex environmental planning issues.
• Guide clients through environmental review, agency coordination, public engagement, and project approvals.
• Lead proposal development, support business development, and identify opportunities with public- and private-sector clients.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, urban planning, environmental science, geography, public policy, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible environmental planning experience, including consulting or private-sector experience.
• Demonstrated expertise with the NYC CEQR Technical Manual and the full CEQR process, including EAS and EIS preparation and management.
• Experience with NEPA and SEQRA, complex project management, client development, and competitive proposals.
• Strong technical judgment, analytical synthesis, technical writing, communication, organization, and presentation skills.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MOVES, AERMOD, CadnaA, and FHWA's Traffic Noise Model.
• Experience with transportation, transit, infrastructure, land use, development, public realm, or Planning and Environmental Linkages projects.
• Relationships with New York City and regional public agencies.
• AICP or CEP certification, or an advanced degree in planning, environmental science, or a related discipline.
