Intermediate Software Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid in Salt Lake City, Utah; candidates must reside within commutable distance of the specified office and attend weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly team events in the office.

Salary: CAD 123,000–137,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, and support back-end services and web front ends.
• Own complex engineering problems end to end, from requirements through production.
• Debug and resolve issues across distributed systems while building for reliability, scalability, and security.
• Automate repetitive work with tooling and scripting.
• Review code, participate in sprint ceremonies, and join the on-call rotation.
• Use AI coding assistants in daily development work.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong Java and Spring experience.
• Experience building REST APIs.
• Solid SQL and relational database experience.
• Experience writing automated tests.
• Some front-end experience.
• Comfort with Git-based workflows and code review.
• Drive to learn and initiative to move work forward independently.

Nice to have

• Authentication and identity standards, including OAuth, OpenID Connect, or SAML.
• Containers, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and build automation.
• Cloud platform experience, especially Azure, and infrastructure as code.
• Observability experience with logging, metrics, and dashboards.
• Scripting for automation, Linux, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience with a SaaS product, production support, or on-call work.
