Senior Principal Software Engineer (AI Posture)

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States of America; most teams work from the office full time

Salary: $170,000–$277,000 annually, with possible restricted stock units and bonus

What you will do

• Develop security posture-related features for highly scalable cloud applications.
• Own the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and technical design through implementation, deployment, and maintenance.
• Build and operate distributed cloud services using Golang in a GCP environment.
• Collaborate with senior engineers, Product Line Management, QA, and cross-functional teams.
• Provide operational support, including occasional customer interaction and participation in the on-call rotation.
• Use AI tools and agents across research, design, implementation, and operational support.

Requirements

• Must be based in Santa Clara, California, United States of America, with full-time office work expected for most teams.
• Strong programming and scripting skills in Golang, Python, or similar languages.
• Experience with infrastructure, cloud environments, Kubernetes, and GCP; AWS experience is acceptable.
• Hands-on experience developing and operating cloud-based services, including observability through metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting.
• Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of related experience, Master’s degree with at least 8 years, PhD with at least 5 years, or equivalent experience. Degrees must be in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong communication, analytical, collaboration, and technical design skills.

Nice to have

• Security best practices, risk assessment, and common threat model knowledge.
• Experience with JSON, YAML, or XML configuration schemas for security policy enforcement.
• Knowledge of security policies, access control models, and configuration profiles across operating systems, cloud environments, and enterprise applications.
