Staff Product Manager, Done-For-You Payroll Workflows (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California or San Francisco, California

Base pay: $188,500–$255,000 annually in Mountain View.

What you will do

• Move payroll workflows from manual entry to autopilot by detecting readiness, flagging anomalies, and driving approvals proactively.
• Build background compliance capabilities that catch rate, deduction, and tax errors before payroll is processed.
• Redesign data models and permissions to improve automation reliability.
• Design agentic workflows with transparent explanations, customer overrides, and rollback controls.
• Partner with engineering, data science, design, and legal on system modeling and safeguards.
• Define metrics and manage the roadmap around payroll exceptions, completion times, and retention.

Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience.
• Experience shipping products in payroll, tax, HR, or another high-stakes regulated workflow.
• Hands-on understanding of ML/LLM-powered automation, trust boundaries, evaluation loops, and data pipelines.
• Technical degree in computer science, electrical engineering, statistics, mathematics, or equivalent technical depth.
• Ability to turn customer problems into execution plans and operate effectively in ambiguity.

• Experience shipping automated or agentic products and improving trust and quality.
