Strategic Buyer (Large Power Transformers)

Location: Hybrid position based at the hirify.global Power Transformer facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States

Full-time, entry-level/graduate position supporting the construction and operation of a new power transformer factory.

What you will do

• Develop and implement commodity strategies for copper, surge arresters, connectors, cooling systems, and fiberglass.
• Lead sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, RFQs, e-auctions, and total cost reduction activities.
• Evaluate, prequalify, and develop suppliers using SAP Ariba, including risk assessments and performance improvement.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, regional procurement teams, and Global Commodity Managers.
• Support supply continuity, supplier risk mitigation, contract preparation, procurement compliance, and operational requirements.
• Conduct supplier site visits when required and maintain negotiation reports and contract documentation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of procurement or similar experience and a bachelor's degree in engineering.
• Experience in strategic sourcing, category management, supplier relationship management, and commodity strategy development.
• Strong supplier negotiation, risk mitigation, cost reduction, supply continuity planning, and TCO skills.
• Proficiency in SAP, SAP Ariba, Tableau, Power BI, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong cross-cultural communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, critical thinking, prioritization, and decision-making skills.
• Energy industry and power transformer sourcing experience is strongly preferred.
