Software Engineer - OMS (Java/Spring Boot)

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services for order management and omnichannel retail experiences.
• Build and support microservices and event-driven applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka.
• Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, resilient, production-ready solutions.
• Develop unit, integration, and behavior-driven tests using JUnit, Mockito, and Cucumber.
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production applications using observability, logging, incident response, and root-cause analysis practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience with Java or a comparable object-oriented programming language.
• Experience with Spring Boot, microservices, APIs, or comparable backend technologies.
• Experience with event-driven or messaging technologies, relational or NoSQL databases, automated testing, CI/CD, or DevOps practices.
• Experience working in an Agile software development lifecycle and using modern source-control practices.
• Ability to work at the Lowe’s Charlotte Technology Hub.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kafka or comparable messaging platforms.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Cassandra, or similar databases.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar monitoring platforms.
• Experience with Bitbucket, Maven, Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in order management, retail, e-commerce, fulfillment, inventory, payments, or other transaction-oriented systems.
