2027 Software Engineering Summer Intern (AI)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid schedule with in-office attendance required Tuesday through Thursday

Annual base salary: $75,000–$80,000 USD

What you will do

• Join a product-oriented software engineering team for a 10-week summer internship.
• Design and execute project deliverables with support from engineers and team leaders.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and apply contemporary software engineering practices.
• Build applications and solutions that support investment decisions, operational efficiency, and employee experience.
• Present the project and learning outcomes at the end of the internship.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with graduation expected between December 2028 and spring 2029.
• Minimum GPA of 3.5.
• Comfortable with object-oriented programming in C#, Python, C++, or Java.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, plus exposure to web development, HTML, JavaScript, or APIs.
• Familiarity with Agile development, cloud technologies, and the software development lifecycle.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.
• Experience with modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.
• Familiarity with automated testing tools such as JUnit or Selenium.
• Curiosity about AI and willingness to use AI-enabled tools such as Claude and ChatGPT.
