Principal Product Compliance Engineer

Location: Wilmington, Massachusetts, United States

Salary: $110,000–$160,000 per year, plus a discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Own compliance responsibility for products in the Plasma and Reactive Gas business unit across national and international markets.
• Partner with engineering and cross-functional product teams on compliance for new product introductions and legacy products.
• Direct and conduct internal compliance testing and lead efforts to resolve engineering safety issues.
• Ensure product designs meet applicable certification, testing, processing, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain regulatory approvals and resolve compliance issues with design and manufacturing engineering.
• Coordinate design requirement reviews to ensure compatibility with processing methods.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field; electrical engineering is preferred.
• 7+ years of experience focused on product compliance testing.
• Experience with LVD, EMC/EMI directives, and harmonized standards including 61010-1, 61326-1, and Semi S2.
• Working knowledge of global regulations and requirements including FCC, CE, KC, UL, RoHS, REACH, CA65, EPA TSCA, WEEE, China RoHS, and PFAS.
• The role is based in Wilmington, Massachusetts, United States; MKS generally hires candidates residing in states where it is registered to do business.
• Some positions may require U.S.-person status for access to controlled goods and technologies under ITAR or EAR.

Nice to have

• Hands-on troubleshooting and testing experience with power electronics, LVD, and EMC/EMI.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and turn complex problems into actionable solutions.
• Experience managing multiple projects and timelines.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20% annually for compliance testing and audits.
