Sr. SW Engineer - AI Security

Location: Ashburn, Virginia, United States; hybrid work with at least 3 days in the office. No relocation budget is available. Travel is required 5–10% of the time.

Salary: $118,700–$183,600 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain GenAI security services and APIs that detect and mitigate prompt injection, jailbreaks, sensitive-data exposure, and unauthorized tool or agent behavior.
• Develop automated evaluation, testing, feedback, and observability systems covering detection quality, latency, false positives, and false negatives.
• Containerize and deploy services with Docker and Kubernetes across enterprise applications, model gateways, developer workflows, and cloud or on-premises platforms.
• Apply threat modeling, secure coding, dependency and secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and architecture review practices.
• Evaluate emerging GenAI security technologies through proofs of concept and contribute to engineering standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, research, architecture, product, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams while supporting releases and incident analysis.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Professional experience building backend services, APIs, platforms, or distributed applications.
• Production software-development experience with Python, Java, Go, or another modern programming language.
• Experience in cybersecurity, secure software development, application security, cloud security, AI security, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, RESTful or event-driven services, API design, concurrency, and performance optimization.
• Experience with GenAI architectures, LLM APIs, agentic workflows, tool calling, model gateways, security controls, evaluation frameworks, and cloud-native operations.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, LlamaIndex, MCP, GPU-backed inference, CUDA, NVIDIA technologies, or model-serving frameworks.
• Experience with adversarial or red-team testing, regression testing, and false-positive/false-negative analysis for LLM applications.
