TL;DR
Cybersecurity Systems Engineer Navy Mission (RMF/Navy Cybersecurity): Leading cybersecurity accreditation and security engineering for mission-critical U.S. Navy and Department of War systems with an accent on RMF implementation, ATO activities, vulnerability management, and continuous monitoring. Focus on developing authorization artifacts, remediating vulnerabilities, hardening systems against DISA STIGs, and maintaining secure physical and virtual infrastructure.

Location: On-site in Arlington, Virginia, United States; at least 5 days per week in the office. Approximately 10% travel may be required. Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance required.

Salary: $135,000–$230,000 per year

What you will do

  • Lead all six NIST Risk Management Framework steps, from categorization and control selection through authorization and continuous monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain SSPs, SARs, SAPs, POA&Ms, inventories, architecture diagrams, and monitoring documentation.
  • Manage ATO, IATT, and IATO authorization packages for U.S. Navy programs.
  • Coordinate with Authorizing Officials, Security Control Assessors, ISSMs, ISSOs, and program managers.
  • Perform ACAS scans, patch management, software installations, vulnerability remediation, and DISA STIG checklist maintenance.
  • Maintain access controls, security processes, golden images, virtual machines, and technical documentation for systems and networks.

Requirements

  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in systems administration or systems engineering.
  • Experience with NIST 800-53 security controls, POA&M development and remediation, vulnerability management, and DISA STIG hardening.
  • Experience with VMware or similar virtualization platforms, Tenable Security Center/Nessus, endpoint protection, scripting with Bash or Python, and provisioning physical and virtual machines.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, TCP, UDP, VLANs, DHCP, routing, patching, and remediation in closed networks; Security+, CCNA, or equivalent IAT Level II certification.

Nice to have

  • Strong knowledge of Red Hat or similar Linux distributions.
  • Experience with tactical-system networking, the U.S. Navy RMF process, or Cross Domain Solutions.
  • Experience with PKI and multiple authentication methods.
  • Experience selecting hardware or software for specific use cases.
  • Experience with Ansible, PowerShell, Chef, Salt, Puppet, or other configuration automation tools.
