Copernicus Data Processing Operations Engineer (Space Data)

Location: Based onsite in Darmstadt, Germany

What you will do

• Perform and monitor routine data ingestion, processing, and distribution operations.
• Investigate, document, and resolve operational anomalies across commissioning, ramp-up, and routine mission phases.
• Monitor system performance and prepare operational statistics, KPIs, and reports.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures, configuration data, documentation, and operational tools.
• Automate and improve operational processes using scripting and database technologies.
• Support validation and test campaigns, contingency operations, on-call activities, coordination, and technical training.

Requirements

• University degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• Professional experience with near-real-time, data-driven, and automated systems.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux, operational procedures, configuration management, change control, and validation of data processing systems.
• Knowledge of Python, Shell, PostgreSQL, computer networks, IT systems, IT security, and ECSS standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, autonomy, and the ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent English communication skills required; CV must be submitted in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with Earth Observation, meteorological data, remote sensing, spacecraft, or ground segment operations.
• Experience processing instrument data and Level-0 to Level-2 products.
• Programming experience in C, C++, or IDL.
• Knowledge of quality control, calibration, and validation processes.
