Infrastructure Specialist (DevOps)

Location: Hybrid, with 40% or two days per week at an office in Leeds or Manchester; on-call participation required

Salary: £48,987–£54,430 per year

What you will do

• Translate middleware technical requirements and operational practices into reusable automated deployment and operational patterns.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, scripts, and self-service tooling.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, testing, upgrades, patching, and operational validation for middleware services.
• Partner with platform, product, application, security, supplier, and middleware teams to deliver solutions and resolve issues.
• Develop secure, resilient, observable solutions with strong testing, version control, and documentation practices.

Requirements

• Practical experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering with hands-on automation experience.
• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Harness, Jenkins, UCD, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
• Good knowledge of Git, branching, pull requests, peer review, and configuration-as-code practices.
• Experience with scripting and automation using Python, Bash, Salt, Ansible, or PowerShell.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, security, resilience, change, and support skills in an enterprise environment.
• Ability to write clear technical documentation, share knowledge, and take ownership of outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience with containers and platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes.
• Experience with GitOps and infrastructure or configuration-as-code tools such as Argo CD, Flux, Terraform, Ansible, Salt, or Helm.
• Experience with IBM MQ, WebSphere, IBM DataPower, Dynatrace, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Experience testing and supporting secure automated deployments across development and production-like environments.
