Senior DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Fully remote, with applicants required to have the legal right to work in the UK. The organisation has an office in Scotland, and the role includes participation in a shared 24/7 on-call rota.

Salary: £50,000–£65,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

What you will do

• Own and administer AWS infrastructure, including EC2, VPCs, load balancing, networking, CDN, WAF and edge platforms.
• Maintain Linux-based production environments and web, application, caching and database services.
• Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Ansible.
• Improve application deployments, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, alerting and observability.
• Lead technical investigations into major incidents, perform root-cause analysis and improve resilience, security and performance.
• Build automation and internal tooling with Python and Bash, and contribute to capacity planning, disaster recovery and infrastructure roadmaps.

Requirements

• At least five years of professional experience in DevOps, cloud, systems or infrastructure engineering.
• Extensive experience managing and troubleshooting Linux systems in live production environments.
• Strong practical knowledge of AWS, especially EC2, VPC architecture, networking and load balancing.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, configuration management and automated infrastructure deployment.
• Experience with production web servers, databases, caching systems, CDN, WAF, CI/CD and operational monitoring.
• Legal right to work in the UK and willingness to participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Akamai and comparable edge security technologies.
• Experience with Bitbucket Pipelines or similar CI/CD platforms.
