What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines in Google Cloud and BigQuery for analytics, reporting, and AI/ML use cases.
- Develop and optimise data models, transformations, workflows, and production-grade data products.
- Identify, onboard, and integrate data sources while assessing data quality, completeness, bias, and business value.
- Monitor pipelines and services, troubleshoot production issues, and implement alerting and data quality controls.
- Collaborate with analysts, BI developers, architects, and governance teams to deliver reliable data solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers, improve processes and self-service capabilities, and contribute technical leadership to the data engineering community.
Requirements
- Strong SQL skills and experience building and supporting cloud data solutions using GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience with technologies such as Python, Java, Scala, and dbt.
- Experience designing, developing, and optimising production-grade data pipelines and data products from source systems to end users.
- Strong understanding of data quality, observability, monitoring, security, governance, and cost optimisation.
- Experience with Agile cross-functional teams, collective code ownership, CI/CD, test automation, and production support.
- Good command of English required for day-to-day collaboration and technical communication.
Nice to have
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and promoting engineering best practices.
- Understanding of distributed systems, modern data architectures, data mesh principles, and large-scale data platforms.
- Experience with automation, continuous improvement, and user-centric data products.
