Senior Data Engineer (Azure)

Location: Germany-based remote work with occasional on-site collaboration at offices in Berlin or Cologne.

What you will do

• Design and build scalable data pipelines for high-impact data products across multiple business domains.
• Drive cloud data migration initiatives and support the transition to Azure-based solutions.
• Transform and optimize large-scale datasets for reporting, analytics, and business decision-making.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts, ML Engineers, DevOps Engineers, Backend Developers, Product Managers, and business stakeholders.
• Promote clean, maintainable code, automation, engineering best practices, and continuous platform improvements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, including data platforms, data modeling, and production-grade data pipelines.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with the ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Experience with distributed data processing systems such as Apache Spark and with large-scale datasets, data lakes, data warehouses, and ETL/ELT architectures.
• Knowledge of scalable system design, data engineering best practices, and lakehouse technologies such as Apache Delta, Iceberg, and Hudi.
• Experience with relational databases and understanding of DevOps principles and automated deployment practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ownership, a consultative mindset, and the ability to work independently in complex environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake, DBT, Docker, Kubernetes, Dagster, Airflow, NiFi, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working across Azure, AWS, or GCP.
