Senior Tax Accountant (State and Local Tax): Managing state and local tax compliance, registrations, sales and use tax, property tax, exemptions, business licenses, and tax operations for a growing AI compute company with an accent on multi-state expansion and data center onboarding. Focus on researching complex tax issues, identifying nexus and tax risks, and building scalable compliance processes across jurisdictions.

What you will do
- Prepare, review, and file assigned sales and use tax returns.
- Manage taxable and exempt transactions, exemption certificates, and related documentation.
- Coordinate state and local registrations, business licenses, tax accounts, and requirements for new entities, states, and data center locations.
- Support property tax filings, assessments, fixed-asset tracking, exemptions, abatements, and reporting.
- Maintain tax registrations, compliance calendars, renewals, notices, licenses, and supporting documentation.
- Research state and local tax issues, monitor regulatory developments, identify incentives, and partner with Accounting, Finance, Legal, HR, Real Estate, Operations, and external advisors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of relevant tax or accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of state and local tax concepts, including sales and use tax, state registrations, exemptions, property tax, or related SALT matters.
- Strong analytical, research, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple deadlines and priorities and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
