Associate General Counsel, Litigation (Fintech)

What you will do

• Manage litigation, arbitration, pre-litigation disputes, investigations, and related matters from initial assessment through resolution.
• Develop case strategy and coordinate execution across multiple external law firms, including objectives, budgets, timelines, staffing, and performance standards.
• Assess claims and exposure, recommend litigation and settlement strategies, and provide practical advice on legal, financial, operational, and reputational risk.
• Oversee pleadings, discovery, e-discovery, motion practice, depositions, expert strategy, hearings, trials, arbitrations, settlements, and appeals.
• Partner with Compliance, Product, Operations, Finance, Marketing, People, IT/Security, and other functions to preserve evidence and mitigate recurring litigation risk.
• Build scalable litigation processes, manage legal spend, and coach Legal team members.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
• At least 6 years of post-law-school legal experience, including substantial complex litigation and disputes experience.
• Meaningful litigation experience at an excellent law firm, with experience managing multiple external litigation counsel.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state civil litigation, arbitration, discovery, privilege, e-discovery, motion practice, settlement strategy, and trials.
• Experience evaluating complex legal and factual issues, managing litigation budgets, and advising senior stakeholders.
• Experience in financial services, fintech, cryptocurrency, technology, or another highly regulated industry.

Nice to have

• Experience with consumer disputes, class actions, regulatory litigation, commercial disputes, securities matters, or similar regulated financial-services disputes.
