Java Software Engineer (AI)

Location: 100% remote within the eastern and central United States

What you will do

• Investigate, analyze, and resolve complex customer escalations through root-cause analysis.
• Navigate large Java codebases, assess defect impact, and identify safe remediation paths with AI-assisted development tools.
• Deliver production code fixes from defect confirmation through automated test generation, code review, and release validation.
• Provide status updates to customers, colleagues, and management and document complex resolutions.
• Contribute to product enhancements, knowledge base content, and product documentation.
• Participate in periodic after-hours and weekend Pager rotation coverage.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of software engineering experience.
• Experience with Java and enterprise frameworks including J2EE, Servlets, MDB, JAX-RS, JMS, JUnit, XML, and JSON.
• Experience with Linux, UNIX, or Windows; JDBC, JDK, JVM stack traces; and object-oriented programming.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, CI/CD tools, databases, APIs, and protocols including AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Maven, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Oracle, DB2, MS SQL, MySQL, HTTP(S), FTP(S), and SFTP.
• Experience executing static and dynamic security scans and fixing vulnerabilities.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or Cursor for debugging, root-cause analysis, code remediation, and test generation.

Nice to have

• Experience with spec-driven or agent-assisted development workflows.
• Ability to translate problem statements into specifications and validate AI-generated changes through tests and reviews.
