Senior Software Engineer - Accounting & Ledger Systems (Crypto)

Location: Full-time onsite at the Toronto office, Canada

Salary: CAD 180,000–220,000 annual base salary, plus equity, an annual performance bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and extend the core double-entry ledger, including accounts, postings, account types, and ledger structures.
• Own the chart of accounts and reporting interfaces connecting engineering data with financial statements and downstream reporting.
• Build mechanisms for balance verification, reconciliation, and proof-of-reserve-style controls across on-chain and off-chain books.
• Partner with Engineering, Finance, Data Engineering, and Product on legal entity ownership, ledger placement, pricing, and reconciliation design.
• Design data models that support margin, lending, staking, tokenized assets, and other financial products without repeated migrations.

Requirements

• Strong practical knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, chart-of-accounts design, financial statements, reconciliation, and audit requirements.
• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience owning data-model design for systems where correctness is a core product requirement.
• Strong system-design skills, including extensible schemas and APIs.
• Ability to review and critique technical designs across multiple systems and communicate effectively with Finance, Data Engineering, and Product.
• Ability to work full-time onsite at the Toronto office.

Nice to have

• Experience with crypto or blockchain infrastructure, including on-chain balance models, custody, or wallet architecture.
• Experience with event-driven or Kafka-based service architectures.
• Experience in embedded accounting architecture or financial-systems design review at a fintech or crypto company.
