Director, Strategic Sourcing Indirect (IT Procurement)

Location: US - California - San Diego; travel up to 25% domestically and internationally

Base salary: $170,600–$255,800 annually. Variable cash programs and, for eligible roles, equity may also be included.

What you will do

• Lead and develop a high-performing sourcing team and establish performance and talent development goals.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies across software, IT, professional services, marketing, and travel for approximately $400M in spend.
• Oversee strategic supplier relationships, governance frameworks, performance metrics, innovation reviews, and risk assessments.
• Lead complex negotiations for master service agreements, statements of work, consulting agreements, managed services, and SLA frameworks.
• Partner with IT, Legal, R&D, manufacturing, commercial, and executive stakeholders to translate technical requirements into sourcing strategies and commercial models.
• Ensure procurement activities, savings reporting, contracts, and supplier management comply with regulatory and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, IT, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• 10–12+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supplier management, including IT/software sourcing and complex supplier ecosystems.
• 5–7+ years of people leadership experience.
• Experience managing suppliers and outsourced development partners and negotiating complex IT, consulting, and marketing contracts.
• Strong analytical, communication, multitasking, project leadership, and negotiation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• This role is based in San Diego, California, and is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience in life sciences, including pharma, biotech, or medtech, and knowledge of regulated industry requirements.
• Exposure to AI/ML, data platforms, or digital health technologies.
• Advanced degree such as an MBA or MS.
• Subject matter expertise in IT procurement, including SaaS, enterprise systems, cloud, and digital services.
