Lecturer in Law, Early Career

Location: Hybrid, contractually based at the Milton Keynes campus. Candidates must be based in the UK or Republic of Ireland and attend campus according to business need, typically around one day per month with occasional additional attendance.

Salary: £42,254–£46,049 per year.

What you will do

• Create and present online undergraduate, postgraduate, and short-course law modules.
• Develop clear, accessible, and inclusive teaching and assessment materials.
• Conduct independent legal research, produce publications, and contribute to knowledge exchange.
• Supervise PhD students and support research and teaching income diversification.
• Participate in external engagement, quality monitoring, committees, and the academic life of the Law School.

Requirements

• Must be based in the UK or Republic of Ireland and able to attend the Milton Keynes campus as required.
• Completed PhD in Law or a closely related subject, plus an undergraduate law degree and postgraduate qualification or equivalent.
• Higher education teaching experience across law programmes, with the ability to teach foundations of legal knowledge in England and Wales.
• Ability to write complex law teaching and assessment materials in English for online asynchronous delivery.
• Evidence of research capacity, planned or current projects, relevant publications, external funding applications, or knowledge exchange activity.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently, manage deadlines, use digital teaching and administrative tools, and work occasional evenings and weekends.

Nice to have

• Professional legal qualification and experience as a solicitor or barrister.
• Fellowship of Advance HE, PG CERT, or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Distance learning teaching experience.
• Expertise in Criminal Law, EU Law, or SQE.
• Ability to contribute to an existing Law School research cluster.
