Senior Security Controls Assessor (NIST 800-53)

Location: Remote within the United States; U.S. citizenship is required. Occasional travel of less than 10% may be required for project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training.

Salary: $100,000–$128,000 annually.

What you will do

• Perform security controls assessments for information systems in alignment with NIST 800-53 Revision 5.
• Apply ATO documentation requirements and coordinate assessment testing with stakeholders and team leads.
• Develop security assessment plans with stakeholder input.
• Lead assessment interviews and tests while managing supporting evidence.
• Provide recommendations to improve security posture and compliance.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience leading security controls assessments.
• Experience supporting security assessments for the federal government.
• Proficiency in NIST RMF and expertise in NIST 800-53 Revision 5.
• Understanding of the ATO process, with strong communication and task management skills.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination are required.
• Ability to handle Controlled Unclassified Information and follow applicable safeguarding requirements.

Nice to have

• BA or BS degree in Information Security or a related field.
• CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent certification.
• CSAM or JCAM experience.
