Senior Android Software Engineer (Consumer Engineering)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Base salary: $190,800–$267,100 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Build and evolve user-facing native Android experiences for content discovery, consumption, creation, and community engagement.
• Lead projects through product definition, technical design, implementation, experimentation, launch, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with product, design, data science, ML, backend, platform, and mobile engineering teams.
• Improve Android architecture, performance, reliability, accessibility, developer workflows, and engineering standards.
• Mentor teammates and lead cross-functional technical initiatives across consumer product areas.

Requirements

• Professional experience developing and shipping consumer-facing native Android applications at scale using Kotlin.
• Strong knowledge of Android frameworks and application architecture.
• Ability to write readable, reusable, testable code and perform debugging, performance optimization, and reliability improvements.
• Experience designing mobile systems and interfaces, evaluating architectural trade-offs, and building scalable features from APIs through user-facing UI.
• Experience with experimentation, feature flags, instrumentation, analytics, and product or quality-of-experience metrics.
• Ability to communicate complex trade-offs, influence stakeholders, and collaborate across teams.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Jetpack Compose, Android accessibility, Media3 or ExoPlayer, MediaCodec, HLS or DASH, recommendation systems, or ML-integrated products.
