Senior Data Engineer (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco or Seattle, United States; office attendance required three days per week

Salary: $160K–$260K base pay per year, plus potential equity and bonus

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable data models for business intelligence, machine learning, and operational use cases.
• Select and apply star, snowflake, normalized, and denormalized schema designs based on business needs.
• Build and maintain batch and streaming ETL pipelines from ingestion and transformation through delivery.
• Partner with business teams, Data Platform Engineers, and Product Managers to define data needs, resolve root causes, and establish a single source of truth.
• Maintain data consistency, traceability, and quality across multiple sources, domains, and distributed or multi-datacenter environments.
• Contribute to data governance covering quality, metadata, master data, privacy, security, and lifecycle management, including practical applications of AI.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Five or more years of experience designing and implementing ETL pipelines with Informatica, Talend, Apache NiFi, or similar platforms.
• Strong experience with data modeling, schemas, ETL, and end-to-end data workflows.
• Proficiency in SQL, database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle, and data warehousing solutions.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, particularly BigQuery and Airflow.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and data-quality skills, with strength in data modeling or ETL.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, payments, or fintech and knowledge of financial data governance or regulatory requirements.
• Experience with Python or R for data analysis and automation.
• Experience with distributed or multi-datacenter systems, data migration, duplication, and consistency challenges.
• Certification in data management or related technologies.
