Senior Communications Test Engineer II (Satellite Communications)

Location: Austin, TX; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

What you will do

• Lead integration, testing, verification, and validation of communication payload systems and interfaces.
• Define modem and data-layer configurations and contribute to communication-system architecture and algorithm development.
• Architect communication test systems, develop test plans and procedures, and manage lab and equipment strategy.
• Execute verification tests, analyze results, present findings, and drive resolution of complex system-level issues.
• Design synchronized test setups using signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and other RF laboratory equipment.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while improving test automation, methodologies, and lab infrastructure.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience and a strong background in communication theory.
• Experience with satellite-communications standards including NR NTN, DVB-S2x, and CCSDS.
• Hands-on experience with RF laboratory instruments, mixed-signal hardware, measurement techniques, and data analysis.
• Experience developing measurement abstraction layers, test automation, and scripts or software using Python, MATLAB, or similar languages.
• Proven ability to design complex test setups, work with anechoic chambers, and debug system-level issues across engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of satellite and wireless communication systems and protocols.
• Experience with wireless synchronization and parameter-sensing techniques.
• Familiarity with phased-array antenna architectures and array calibration.
• Technical leadership, mentorship, or experience leading small engineering teams.
