Senior Integration & Test Engineer I (Aerospace)

Location: Pasadena, California, United States; based in the Pasadena office

Base salary: $108,800–$136,000 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $129,075–$171,675 USD annually.

What you will do

• Lead integration and test campaigns for flight motion systems from actuators and mechanisms through subsystems and spacecraft.
• Integrate and test motor control electronics with motors, actuators, and mechanisms, including closed-loop torque, speed, position, and current characterization.
• Define requirements and verification and validation plans with design, controls, and systems engineering teams.
• Develop acceptance, qualification, research and development test plans, procedures, and stakeholder review materials.
• Plan and execute environmental qualification and acceptance testing, including vibration, shock, thermal vacuum, thermal, and EMI/EMC testing.
• Develop and maintain ground-support equipment, test automation, data acquisition systems, hardware-in-the-loop systems, and flight software configurations while leading anomaly investigations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, aerospace, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least five years of experience in test engineering or another hands-on engineering role.
• Hands-on experience integrating and testing motor control electronics, motors, actuators, or mechanisms.
• Knowledge of brushless DC, permanent magnet synchronous, or stepper motors, drive electronics, and feedback sensors such as encoders, resolvers, and Hall sensors.
• Experience with environmental testing and proficiency in C, C++, Python, or MATLAB, as well as technical documentation.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements; candidates must also satisfy applicable ITAR access requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with spacecraft, launch vehicle, precision motion, or other aerospace flight systems.
• Experience with formal qualification and acceptance testing, full V&V lifecycles, control systems, and motor-control tuning.
• Clean-room and ESD-sensitive equipment experience.
• Experience with electrical test equipment, electromechanical test-system design, sensors, signal conditioning, and data acquisition.
• Experience with 3D CAD or ECAD tools such as SolidWorks and Altium, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
